The history of geological knowledge from an express train

Author: Michaela Nohejlová Zemková

Ilustrations: Ondřej Nohejl

Audio/Voice: Gabriel Andrews

The application will take you on a roughly two-hour train journey from Prague–Most, exploring the history of our knowledge of the Earth and the birth of the modern geological sciences. During the journey you’ll see views of scenery that has attracted artists since time immemorial, and which in the 19th century also became key challenges for scientists in finding the answers to a great many questions. Along the way you’ll see sights such as Říp mountain, the panorama of the volcanic Central Bohemian Highlands and the Ore Mountains, as well as the spa towns of Teplice and Bílina, which were visited by the founders of world science. Duration of train journey: 2 hours.
